Read Your Bible in 5 Days Each Week
by Harry Osborne
December 28, 2008
Over the past few years, we have included a daily Bible reading schedule in this bulletin. This year we include another one, but it is different in several ways from those in previous years. The schedule for this year follows the regular five-day work-week. This leaves each of us free to concentrate on our Bible class lessons on Saturday and worshipping God on Sunday. The other major difference in this year's schedule is that it breaks the daily readings into three parts. Every day includes an Old Testament and New Testament section of reading. Most days also have a devotional section from the Psalms. Find a way that works best for you to incorporate these sections of reading into your workday. It may work best for you to start your day with the reading of the Old Testament section and save the New Testament section for the evening. Maybe reversing that order will work best for you. I have found that including a devotional reading from the Psalms in mid-morning or around lunch is a great way to keep focused on spiritual things in the midst of the distractions of the day. You may find it best to do at another time. Whatever works best for you, please use this plan to help you read through your Bible in 2009!

The schedule of readings on the inside pages of this bulletin was arranged by Mark Roberts from Irving, Texas. I believe it is very well done. The same schedule with some added information is also available in a small pamphlet format that you can keep in your Bible. These will be available for the next few weeks on the table between the doors entering the new building. Why not post the inside pages of the bulletin and mark off each day's reading as you complete it? Post one for each member of the family and encourage each other to keep up with the readings! We can help ourselves and our families draw closer to God by putting His word into our daily lives.
